Our Musical Theatre class helps students of all ages tell a story through a combination of spoken dialogue, song, acting, and dance, with all these elements working together to convey the story of emotion. This fascinating form of performance, which also includes elements like choreography and stagecraft, is also known as a musical, particularly in the context of major theatrical centers like Broadway and the West End.

Key Components

• Song: Music, is of course, the central element, often used to express emotions or advance the plot.
• Spoken Dialogue: Our students use are thought spoken words to advance the plot and interact, though some musicals are "sung-through" with no spoken text.
• Dance: Dance routines thought are integral to storytelling and character expression within a musical.
• Acting: Our students are taught to use their acting skills to bring characters and stories to life.

How it Differs from Other Forms

• Opera: Unlike opera, where even basic dialogue is sung, musicals feature actors who also speak their lines and integrate sung and spoken sections.
• Play with Music: While plays can incorporate music, musical theatre distinguishes itself by the equal and integrated importance of song, dance, and drama in telling the story.
